It was introduced into service in 1944 and was used mainly by the British Armored Corps. This tank was known for its speed and maneuverability, which allowed it to operate effectively on the battlefield. The Cromwell was equipped with a 75mm main gun and a 600hp Rolls-Royce Meteor engine. This provided it with good firepower as well as mobility and the ability to move quickly on various types of terrain. The Cromwell Mk.IV played a vital role in the Normandy campaign and in subsequent Allied operations in Western Europe.
